Air Fryer Date S'mores

Our Story

This one is a Gab original that started as a random craving and instantly earned a permanent spot in our snack rotation. She builds a s'more the normal way, then tucks a Medjool date between the graham cracker and the chocolate. Five minutes in the air fryer and the date goes soft and caramel-like, the chocolate melts into it, and the marshmallow toasts up on top. It tastes like a s'more that spent the summer at a nice resort.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350.

  2. Build each s'more: graham cracker square, a flattened Medjool date, a square of chocolate, then the marshmallow on top.

  3. Air fry for 5 minutes at 350, until the marshmallow is toasted and the chocolate has melted into the date.

  4. Let them sit 1 minute (the date gets hot), then eat open-faced or cap with a second graham square.

What We'd Change Next Time

Press the date as flat as you can so every bite gets a little of it, and do not skip the rest minute, the date holds heat like a lava cake. A nut butter filled chocolate square takes these over the top, and a tiny pinch of flaky salt on the melted chocolate would not hurt either. If you are making a big batch, work in rounds so the marshmallows toast evenly.

FAQ

Can I make these without an air fryer?

Yes. Bake them on a sheet pan at 350 for about 7 to 8 minutes in a regular oven, or broil for the last minute if you want a darker toast on the marshmallow.

Why add a date to a s'more?

A warm Medjool date turns soft and tastes like caramel, so you get a gooey caramel layer with fiber and no candy. It makes the s'more feel homemade instead of store-bought.
